Gates: Iraq failure would be 'calamity' | Chron.com - Houston Chronicle

Gates is sworn in and joins in lock-step with Bush.

"But as the president has made clear, we simply cannot afford to fail in the Middle East. Failure in Iraq at this juncture would be a calamity that would haunt our nation, impair our credibility, and endanger Americans for decades to come," Gates said.

Since the calamity has already occurred, as well as losing credibility and endangering Americans for decades to come; why not just leave before anymore soldiers die needlessly.

What does success look like Mr. Gates? Because we've already seen failure.
