A US Senate committee has defied President George W Bush by rejecting legislation to set up trials for foreign terrorism suspects. Senators showed some backbone today and voted 15-9 to back a milder bill, which Mr Bush has vowed to block.

Bush whined over and over again that the Geneva Conventions are too vague. Huh? Not only are they quite clear, also clear is the Bush regime's deliberate and repeated violation of them…hence his motivation now.
