Think Progress » U.S. Military Officials: Bush Trying To Bribe Us To Support Iraq Escalation

Check out this posting on ThinkProgress.org

NBC Nightly News, Pentagon correspondent Jim Miklaszewski said that many military officials are “suspicious” of President Bush’s announcement that he plans to increase the size of the armed forces. They believe that “he’s dangling that offer out there in an effort to buy the military support for the option to surge additional American troops into Iraq as if it’s some kind of tradeoff.”

The White House Censors New York Times Op-Ed

What We Wanted to Tell You About Iran - New York Times

The New York Times today prints an op-ed piece, written by a former NSC official, complete with the redactions demanded by the White House. The CIA's Publication Review Board had already cleared the original draft, but had to revisit that decision under pressure from the Bush administration.

The following is from an Op-Ed By FLYNT LEVERETT and HILLARY MANN that I think really says it all.

National security must be above politics. In a democracy, transparency in government has to be honored and protected. To classify information for reasons other than the safety and security of the United States and its interests is a violation of these principles. It is for this reason that we will continue to press for the release of the article without the material deleted.

The White House's decision to censor this Op-Ed proves that they are more interested in playing politics than actually solving any issues facing our country today. Issues that have been inflamed by their actions.

Bush planning for more U.S. casualties in Iraq

That George Bush is never satisfied. Dissatisfied with the way things are going in Iraq the bombings, violence, and death are just not enough. The Decider has decided that 2007 will be even worse.

Well at least he finally has a plan for Iraq.

Don't be surprised if these statements today aren't really refering to the action they are planning in Iran. Remember last week he was giving a speech and he said Iran three times and then at the end of his statement said "oh I mean Iraq." The Navy is moving an aircraft carrier to the Persian Gulf right now to block the shipping lanes of Iran.

Would the 110th Congress please stop this madman?!

ABC News: Bush Plans to Put More Troops in Iraq

ABC News: Bush Plans to Put More Troops in Iraq

It's official, Bush plans to send more troops to Iraq. Unfortunately it is going to be a case of too little too late. When Bush was asked to send more troops at the begining of this occupation he fired the general who suggested it. Now while most Americans are calling for an end to this accupation Bush chooses to ignore all experts and makes a purely political move by sending more troops at this time.

When this fails expect them to take the position that they tried but the situation had already deteriorated to much. Then they can save face with their base and say see we tried.

Gates: Iraq failure would be 'calamity' | Chron.com - Houston Chronicle

Gates: Iraq failure would be 'calamity' | Chron.com - Houston Chronicle

Gates is sworn in and joins in lock-step with Bush.

"But as the president has made clear, we simply cannot afford to fail in the Middle East. Failure in Iraq at this juncture would be a calamity that would haunt our nation, impair our credibility, and endanger Americans for decades to come," Gates said.

Since the calamity has already occurred, as well as losing credibility and endangering Americans for decades to come; why not just leave before anymore soldiers die needlessly.

What does success look like Mr. Gates? Because we've already seen failure.
